Tablet Weaving

I decided to warp up my other board loom for my 12th Night Artisan display. Used a band that I removed from the loom back in early to mid-2020 and has been sitting in the closet in a box.

As I was transferring it to the loom I was laughing to myself. I wove this band for an outfit I was making in 2018 (that I now hate) and to have a work-in-progress to show off at the Artisan Meet-and-Greet at Antir-West War that year. It started on my inkle loom and gave me fits. Almost all of my “tips and tricks for an intermediate tablet weaver” came from this band. I see a lot of “learning mistakes” in the band that makes me cringe, but I also have to remind myself that this band is about 4-5 years old and I have learned a lot in the interim.

I tried using fishing swivels to help with the twist build-up (which apparently I still have on the band! 🤣) and then decided to transfer it to my board loom. Which went rather better than expected. Then once it was on my board loom I had to figure out how to keep each card’s threads organized and separate, which led to the Kumihimo bobbin and reusable twist tie experiment. I was getting wavy sides, so I found the hem gauge, which worked great. I started using the lap counter to track my rows because I was getting lost keeping track on my phone.

Now to finally finish it and have a piece of clothing with my own weaving on it! Don’t know what piece of clothing yet, but that sounds like a future-me problem.
