I think I have Dreki’s pattern dialed in, for the most part, so time to cut out the real fabric! Oh, yeah. And discover that I am about to run out of black thread. Two of my three spools were dark blue not black. When you live out in the country with no crafting stores or Walmart nearby, this is a problem.
[Narrator: “Sadly, she did not have the pattern dialed in and once again forgot to add seam allowance. One day Toka will remember to not stress over projects and get overwhelmed so that she makes silly mistakes. Today is not that day.”]

I have a bad tendency to get overly stressed over being perfect at everything and second-guess myself. When I start stressing, all of the newly acquired knowledge goes in one ear and out the other and my eyes glaze over while trying to read. I have done so much Landsknecht and tailoring research that I overwhelmed myself and did not think logically when working with this pattern. For one, I forgot to add seam allowance (although, the pattern made it sound like there was seam allowance included, so…) and I did not realize I needed to sew down the lining before closing the garment. I tried sewing the Waffenrock bodice like one of my previous kirtles and it just didn’t come out right.
So… back to the drawing board. I finally was able to calm down and reevaluate my sewing process. I re-read the pattern instructions and this time I was better able to comprehend them. I also watched numerous tailoring videos and got sucked into the Thimble and Plume videos, which really helped me better understand how to fix my mistakes.
Time to order more fabric and try again. This time with seam allowance!
